Myrrh and Gold was created to boldly share our faith in Jesus and open doors for conversation about him. 

We started Myrrh and Gold as a married couple outside of Dallas, Texas in 2019. We launched on January 6th, 2020.


Our Mission

The Mission of Myrrh and Gold is to share the message of the Gospel in bold, approachable and innovative ways. It is God-inspired and God-directed. We want to foster a community that boldly shares its faith in Jesus and opens doors for conversation about His love. ⁠

We aim, by the help and grace of God, to impact spiritual lives by using contemporary and modern channels and media, such as clothing, social media, other online channels and more. ⁠

As the world constantly changes, our goal is to adapt, never being outdated in HOW we share the Gospel, while never changing WHAT and WHY we do it: God's love and His Salvation.⁠


The Name: Myrrh and Gold

And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11


The name Myrrh and Gold may be intriguing to some. To this day, it's still a little intriguing to even us! ⁠

Myrrh and Gold was started by us, a husband and wife duo, living outside of Dallas, Texas. The dream and vision of a clothing brand dedicated to the Lord began to finally take shape around June 2019, and it was time to choose a name. ⁠

As we were brainstorming names, the name Myrrh and Gold came upon the wife suddenly and unexpectedly as both considered the most fitting name for this brand and mission. ⁠

With a shortlist of a few names, we decided to take a page from the Scriptures by drawing lots (Proverbs 16:33; 18:18; Acts 1:26) to select the final name, as we wanted God's will for the name and identity of the brand. We wrote each name down on post-it notes, prayed over them and drew. Myrrh and Gold was chosen. ⁠

Because of how important this name would be to this mission, the husband decided to put the names back and drew the lots prayerfully twice more. The results? Myrrh and Gold. Three out of three times in total.⁠

It's one of our favorite stories and memories about seeking God's will and asking Him to lead us every step of the way. ⁠


The Icon

Once the name Myrrh and Gold was chosen, the logo was ready to be designed. ⁠

The M&G Icon was created to resemble an M and a G. It also symbolizes the three gifts with its three stokes: Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. ⁠

It also encompasses the core of what we believe in and what we so yearn to share through this brand: belief in and love for God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.⁠

During the design process and not being logo specialists ourselves, we opened up the opportunity to design the Myrrh and Gold logo to artists and graphic designers worldwide. We could already see God's hand in this process. In creating the design opportunity, we shared the message of Jesus' birth and the significance of the the three gifts to hundreds of people. We were able to engage in conversation on how a logo and icon represented not just the name, but our faith. Designers, both believers and non-believers, dug into Scripture and researched themselves.⁠

God was showing us even before we launched that He would make an impact. Hallelujah!⁠

The Tagline

Myrrh and Gold Faithfully Bold
Myrrh and Gold was created by Christians, but not just for Christians. We want to help spread the message of the Gospel to everyone. With that in mind, we knew Myrrh and Gold might be a foreign concept to some - so, it was important that we add context to our tagline.⁠

Faithfully Bold was selected not only because it rhymes ;), but because it truly put our mission into two words. It embodies our desire to be bold in faith through our designs, in ways that would make people stop, look and hopefully engage with us in a conversation about Jesus.⁠

We want to be bold in faith, while faithfully sharing it.⁠

The Founders

Hi there! We're Josiah and Malika, the founders of Myrrh and Gold. We're a married couple living outside of Dallas, Texas.⁠

We began the journey of Myrrh and Gold about 1.5 years ago (see previous posts for some more) after a strong nudging from God, and encouragement from each other, to finally take the first steps of a dream we had both had for years. Devoting our time and resources to God's Kingdom - and starting a clothing line - had both been individual dreams for us even before we met each other.⁠

Josiah, who is half German and half Sri Lankan, was raised in Germany and the UK before moving to Louisiana after university to intern with a local ministry one day after Hurricane Katrina hit. He spent the next several years supporting ministry, traveling all over the US and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas. Josiah comes from a large family, with several generations of missionaries and pastors.⁠

Malika, who is half Filipina and half African American, was raised in Chicago, Egypt and Saudi Arabia before moving to Dallas, Texas as a young adult. She was raised as a very devout Muslim before coming to Christ in her early 20s after leaving Saudi Arabia in the mid 2000s. Having traveled so much and being multilingual, Malika has a heart to spread God's grace, forgiveness and love worldwide.⁠

The Products

Our products are intended to be modern and contemporary. We want to be innovative in design, fit and style while not compromising on the message.⁠

Each piece of clothing is handmade to order and crafted with ethically sourced materials. The products and materials used by our suppliers, including fabrics and inks, are independently certified to ensure sustainability and safety.⁠

The packaging used is made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials.⁠

Our collection will include shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, track pants, shoes and more - all carefully and prayerfully designed. New collections, including new product types, will be continually added.⁠

The Designs

Each Myrrh and Gold design is thoughtfully created to spark something - in the wearer, the viewer, or, best scenario, both. We imagine a believer wearing or holding one of our products on a train, a bus or while shopping at the store and the design being so intriguing that people glance, but then have to stare.
The other person wonders about its meaning, as if they are pondering a piece of art. Maybe, just maybe, they have the courage and boldness to walk up to you ask you. And maybe, hopefully, you have enough courage and boldness to begin a conversation - and invite someone to Jesus.
